It's hard to believe that it's time to write this post. It seems like just yesterday I was writing MJ's 4 month update and now here we are! A whole year!
At one year old, MJ is a happy, healthy, and BUSY little bean. He's full of smiles, laughs, and mischief. There is nothing that he's not into - from the toilet to marshmallows to the laundry pile. His latest two obsessions are the garbage can in his room and the diaper pail. Any chance he gets he scoots like the wind to explore these two objects with a look that can only be described as part determination, part wonder, and ALL anticipation. He is convinced that wonders untold are awaiting him in both these of these magically mysterious receptacles, if only I would let him get there. Too bad there are not wonders untold awaiting him in either...just poop.
And speaking of journeys, man is he fast! He can army crawl with the best of them and he's lightening quick on his knees, too. He's not yet walking, but he "cruises" along any solid object that crosses his path. He hasn't said any words yet, but I'm convinced it's just because he's waiting until he can say a really big one first. "Mama" or "Dada" won't do - I'm thinking he's waiting until he can pronounce something really useful, like "Republican". :)
And now, without further delay - MJ's one year update:
Weight: 22 lbs (50th percentile)
Height: 30.25 inches (75-80th percentile)
Head Circumference: 18.25 (60th percentile)
When it comes to the stats, MJ is averaging out. He's not quite so skinny anymore and slightly less tall in comparison to other little boys his age. His pediatrician says he's doing swimmingly! He also says this next year will be less about his physical growth, but more predominantly about his mental growth and the emergence of his personality. Sounds like a lot of fun, and a lot of work. I better go rest up!
