Today we went to the pediatrician's office for his check up, which means we have another round of MJ stats to share.
Here's how he sizes up:
Length: 27 1/2" (85th percentile)
Weight: 16 lbs 9 oz (27th percentile)
Head: 17 1/4" (50th percentile)
Back when we were still expecting Baby Bean, my Mom would joke about finding out what "flavor" Bean we were having (meaning boy or girl). Well, I think we finally know what flavor Bean is. In light of his recent measurements, there's little doubt he's a String Bean!
At each well-baby check up, MJ continues to plummet on the weight percentile, while holding (if not gaining) on the height percentile. He's certainly getting longer and leaner and he certainly doesn't get that from me! But that's no surprise, there seems to be very little that MJ has inherited from me. He continues to look more and more like his Grandma Jamie and his Daddy. He continues to be a Nap Fighting Ninja and a busy little bee like his Daddy. He continues to have the Raley chin like his Grandpa Mike, and he continues to show a proclivity for being left-handed like his Grandma Dub (aka Grandma Lynn Wolter).
In other news, MJ was able to check off on all the proper development boxes for 6 to 8 month olds. He can roll over, grab items and pass them from hand to hand, push up on his hands and legs, smile, laugh, make consonant noises, and play with his feet. The only thing that MJ hasn't yet done that he "should" do soon is sit up. But the pediatrician wasn't worried and neither am I. After all, in order to master sitting up, one must actually sit . In order to sit, you must be somewhat still. Something tells me there is little sitting, still or otherwise, in my son's future.
All stats aside, MJ continues to be an absolute joy. He's charming, challenging, and in constant motion. He's impossibly adorable and surprisingly sweet. Just when I think I can't love him anymore, the next day comes and I find that I do. He never ceases to surprise and amaze me - like just the other day when he got a crazed look in his eye, let out a loud squeal and then started hysterically laughing at his own silliness. Hmm....perhaps there is something of me in there after all. :)
